Found this long ago… sorry I can’t remember which site 😦

One day, Plato asked his teacher Socrates, “What is love? How can I find it?” Socrates answered, “There is a vast wheat field in front. Walk forward without turning back, and pick only one stalk. If you find the most magnificent stalk, then you have found love.” Plato walked forward, and before long, he returned with empty hands, having picked nothing. His teacher asked, “Why did you not pick any stalk?” Plato answered, “Because I could only pick once, and yet I could not turn back. I did find the most magnificent stalk, but did not know if there were any better ones ahead, so I did not pick it. As I walked further, the stalks that I saw were not as good as the earlier one, so! I did not pick any in the end.”

Socrates then said, “And that is LOVE.”

On another day, Plato asked Socrates: “What is marriage? How can I find it?” His teacher answered, “There is a thriving forest in front. Walk forward without turning back, and chop down only one tree. If you find the tallest tree, then you have found marriage”. Plato walked forward, and before long, He returned with a tree. The tree was not bad but it was not tall, either. It was only an ordinary tree, not the best but just a good tree. His teacher asked, “Why did you chop down such an ordinary tree?” Plato answered, “Based on my previous experience, I had walked through the field, but returned with empty hands. This time, I saw this tree, and I felt that it was the first good tree I had seen, so I chopped it down and brought it back. I did not want to miss the chance.”

Socrates then said, “And that is MARRIAGE.

On another day, Plato asked his teacher, “What is paramour?” Socrates answered, “Go to the forest again. You are allowed back and forth if you like, and pluck the most beautiful flower.” Plato walked forward, after 2 hours he returned with a vivid flower but a little drooped. His teacher asked, “Is this one the most beautiful follower?” Plato answered, “I had walked for 2 hours. I found this was the most beautiful flower, so I picked it. But it had been drooping on my way back.

Socrates then said, “And that is PARAMOUR.”

On another day, Plato asked his teacher, “What is life?” Socrates asked him to go to the forest again, allowed back and forth as well, and pluck the most beautiful flower. Plato walked forward. However he hadn’t come back for 3 days. His teacher went to find him. When he saw Plato’s camping in the forest, he asked:” Have you found the most beautiful flower?” Plato pointed a flower near to his camp and answered, “This is the most beautiful flower!” “Why didn’t you take it out?”  Socrates asked.  “Based on my previous experience, if I pick it, it would be drooping. Even though I didn’t pick, it would die in a couple of days for sure. So I had been living by its side while it was blooming. When it’s drooped, I was up to find another one. This is the second most beautiful flower I have found!”

Socrates then said, “You’ve got the truth of LIFE”

“Love” is the most beautiful thing to happen to a person, it’s an opportunity you don’t realize its worth when you have it but only when it’s gone like the field of stalks. “Marriage” is like the tree you chopped, it’s a compromise; you pick the first best thing you see and learn to live a happy life with it. Having an affair is alluring. It’s like lightning — bright but disappeared so quickly that you cannot catch up with and keep it. “Life” is to follow and enjoy the every beautiful moment of living. I especially like the thought of  “life”, that’s why I can enjoy my life wherever I live.

Whenever I checked for the traits of a certain anime character, they always include their blood type.
Japanese and Koreans, kind of like to believe that your blood gives an idea of your personality. This really amused me. Check out if your blood type fits to your personality.

The Perfectionist

Positive qualities:
Reserved, Patient, Sensitive, Responsible and Punctual.

Negative qualities:
Obsessive, Stubborn, Conservative and Tense.

A is most compatible with blood types A and AB.

While outwardly calm, they have such high standards (perfectionists) that they tend to be balls of nerves on the inside. Type A’s are the most artistic of the blood groups. They can be shy, are conscientious, trustworthy, and sensitive.

People with blood type A have a deep-rooted strength that helps them stay calm in a crisis when everyone else is panicking. However, they tend to avoid confrontation, and feel very uncomfortable around people. A types are shy and sometimes withdrawn. They seek harmony and are very polite, but all the same feel that they never really fit in with others. A types are very responsible. If there is a job to be done, they prefer to take care of it themselves. These people crave success and are perfectionists. They are also very creative, and the most artistic of all the blood types, most likely because of their sensitivity.

People with blood type A are also likely to be considered classic “type A’s”: stressed and conscientious. In anime, people like Hotohori are type A’s.

Famous people with the same blood type:
George H. W. Bush, O.J. Simpson, Britney Spears, Alan Alda, Adolf Hitler, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon.

The Individualist

Positive qualities:
Creative, Passionate, Strong, Animal loving, Optimistic and Flexible.

Negative qualities:
Wild, Unsociable, Critical, Indecisive, Unpredictable and Unforgiving.

B is most compatible with blood types B and AB.

Goal oriented and strong minded, type B’s will start a task and continue it until completed, and completed well. Type B’s are the individualists of the blood group categories and find their own way in life.

People with blood type B are the most practical of the blood groups. They are specialists in what they do. When they start a project, they spend extra time understanding and trying to follow directions than others might. When they are doing something, all of their attention is focused on it. They tend to stick to a goal and follow it through to the end, even if it seems impossible. They tend to be less than cooperative, as they like to follow their own rules and their own ideas. They are individualists. B type people pay attention to their thoughts a little more than their feelings, and therefore can sometimes seem cold and serious.

People with blood type B are often considered more relaxed, freewheeling, and unconventional than other types, although not necessarily to an unacceptable degree. In anime, the genki, off-the-wall types are type B, along with any kind of well-intended character who’s ruled by their impulses.

Famous people with the same blood type:
Jack Nicholson, Luciano Pavarotti, Tom Selleck, Mia Farrow, Paul McCartney, Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Rationalist

Positive qualities:
Popular, Sociable, Cool and Controlled.

Negative qualities:
Forgetful, Critical, Indecisive, Irresponsible and Self-centered.

AB is compatible with all other blood types. (A, B, AB, and O)

Type AB’s are the split personalities of the blood groups. They can be both outgoing and shy, confident and timid. While responsible, too much responsibility will cause a problem. They are trustworthy and like to help others.

People with blood type AB are hard to categorize. They can have characteristics on both ends of the spectrum at the same time. For instance, they are both shy and outgoing. They easily switch from one opposite to another. AB people are trustworthy and responsible, but can’t handle it when too much is asked of them. They don’t mind doing favors or helping out, as long as its on their own conditions. People with this blood type are interested in art and metaphysics.

AB is considered the worst blood type. In predictability-loving Japan, they’re loose cannons. They also like to set their own conditions and reserve the right to drop out when things don’t meet their expectations. They’re known to be sensitive and considerateâ??at timesâ??but it just isn’t enough to balance out the flaws in this blood type. For a while, some companies tried dividing their employees into work groups based on blood type, and no one wanted to work with the AB group. Anime villains are likely to be type AB

Famous people with the same blood type:
John F. Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Mick Jagger, Thomas Edison, Jackie Chan.

The Natural Leader

Positive qualities:
Ambitious, Trendsetter, Independent, Loyal, Athletic, Robust, Passionate and Self-confident.

Negative qualities:
Arrogant, Vain, Jealous, Insensitive and Ruthless.

O is most compatible with blood types AB and O.

Type O’s are outgoing, and very social. They are initiators, although they don’t always finish what they start. Creative and popular, they love to be the center of attention and appear very self confident.

People with blood type O people are outgoing, energetic and social. They are the most flexible of the blood types. They easily start up projects but often have trouble following through because they give up easily. They are flighty and not too dependable. O types always say what’s on their mind. They value the opinion of others and like to be the center of attention. Also, people with O blood are extremely self-confident.

Type O, the most “average” blood type, is considered the best type in Japan.

Famous people with the same blood type:
Ronald Reagan, Queen Elizabeth II, John Lennon, Paul Newman, Elvis Presley, Gerald Ford, Mikhail Gorbachev, Al Capone.

By the way, I’m Type A.

Lion Meanings and Thoughts on Lion Symbolism

The symbolic meaning of lions, as one might imagine, primarily deals with strength.

The fact that it is a nocturnal creature means that the lion is a symbol of authority and command over subconscious thought (as night is an ancient symbol of the subconscious – or dream states).

It’s interesting that the lion is considered by many ancient cultures to be a solar animal symbol, however it is primarily a nocturnal creature, conducting its hunting activity mostly at night. Further, the lioness is considered a lunar animal.

This serves as a symbolic message of balance and sound judgment. In that the lion shares the world of both night and day, the lion bears a message of prudence to us. In other words, the lion asks us to not overdo in certain areas of our lives. Rather, keep an even mind and an overall balance in our life activities.

Other than a symbol for strength, other symbolic attributes of the lion include:

In Egypt, the lion represented the ferocious heat of the sun and was seen in the likeness of Sekhmet who is the Egyptian goddess known as the Eye of Ra. She is the power that protects the good and annihilates the wicked.

In ancient Greece, lions were identified with Dionysus, Phoebus, Cybele, and Artemis because myth indicates lions drew the chariots for these gods and goddesses. Here, the symbolic meaning of lions revolved around protections and they were viewed as guardians of the dead as well as guardians of palaces, doorways, shrines and thrones. They were also ultimate protectors of hearth and home.

In Hinduism, the lion is an avatar (embodiment or personification) of Vishnu.

In Buddhism the Buddha sits upon the lion as a throne of consistency, strength and wisdom.

In alchemy, the symbolic meaning of lions is associated with the highly idealistic and prized attributes of gold.

The symbolic meaning of lions in England is shonw in heraldic art where it is a common emblem of English sovereigns because of these lion-like traits:

As a zodiac symbol – those with the sign of Leo likely possess some lion’s personality traits such as:

Those born under the sun sign Leo are fiercely independent, confident and in control.

They are creative and influential forces and have the internal power to make positive (or negative) changes in their lives and the lives of others around them.

They are very loyal people, and will defend friend and family honor to the death. My friend Göran Jönsson has perfectly captured the strength and ferocity the Leo represents in his zodiac pendant shown left.

Lions as dream symbols indicate we may feel as though we are being preyed upon, or we are in a position to defend ourselves. Dreaming of lions may also be a sign of our need to get in touch with our emotions, and tame them if necessary.

In esoteric studies, the lion makes its appearance in the Tarot where it is illustrated in the Strength card of the Major Arcana.

When we observe the lion in nature, we detect an easy strength and a natural dignity. The lion is born powerful, and power comes naturally to it. There is no false bravado as the lion has no need of it.

When the lion comes to us it is a sign for us to step into our natural birthright of power. Each of us is born powerful and divine. The lion reminds us of this.

Other messages the lion shares with us:

  –  Hold your head high – even in times of conflict – conduct yourself with dignity
  –  Stand tall, remember your birthright of power
  –  Perhaps it’s time to show your authority (not in a dominating way) but lead others with a loving heart
  – It may be time to defend something that is dear to your heart – defend it fiercely if you must.
   – Have courage, have faith.

As with all signs and symbols, the symbolic meaning of lions should be special and personal to each of you. This only provides you with a brief summary of the various symbolic meanings available. Ultimately it is you who determines your own unique and symbolic relationship with the lion.

Dreams About Lions or Tigers Meaning
Bridget Webber
Ranked #1 in Psychology

Dreaming about lions and tigers can be interpreted in several ways, depending on what you personally associate with them, and universal symbolism.

Sometimes you may have dreams which you suspect have a hidden message. Dreams about lions or tigers can be particularly perplexing if you don’t understand what they mean. Your subconscious could be attempting to tell you something that’s trapped in the deep recesses of your mind.

According to the psychoanalyst Freud, things which are painful for us to access consciously can become trapped in our unconscious life. A follower of Freud’s, Jung, believed that thoughts from our subconscious, and the collective unconscious, can rise into our dreams, and that these dreams can be interpreted if we examine dream imagery and symbols.

According to Jung, the collective unconscious is a universal pool of knowledge we can tap into while dreaming. Animals such as lions or tigers in a dream, would represent common factors we all know about them, and relate to something happening in our personal life.

If you dream about lions or tigers, the first place to begin if you want to practice the art of dream interpretation, is to list facts you know already about the animals, along with any sayings, thoughts, feelings and traits you believe them to have. For example lions are known for:

    Being proud

There are stories pertaining to lions you may have heard of also which could influence your dreams meaning, such as Born Free, and the tale of the lion who had a thorn removed from his paw by St Jerome.

If the two examples pertain to your brain store of information regarding lions, you could add to your list:

If you dreamed about tigers you would build a list about what you associate with tigers, in the same way you compiled the lion list. For example, you may think of tigers as being:

Tigers are associated in films, books and sayings with being both fearsome, and friendly. The way you interpret your dream with them in, will depend upon the circumstances in which the tiger presented itself, and the type of character form the tiger projected. A cartoon tiger, such as Tigger from Winnie the Pooh in a dream may have something to do with childhood, or your inner child. However, a tiger which comes across as vicious and wild, bearing teeth and flashing his claws, is more likely to have something to do with primitive feelings, such as aggression or shock.

The next step to interpreting the meaning of dreams about lions or tigers is to think closely about what happened to you the day before your dream. Perhaps you had a shocking or frightening encounter with someone? In which case the wild animal could represent the person who upset you, and your deepest feelings about the experience.

If you were angry or aggressive the day before your dream, the lion or tiger may represent you. In which case your subconscious may be showing you how aggressive you were, or how angry you felt about something, or towards someone.

Jung also believed that each individual has a shadow side, which goes along with the theory that where there is good there is bad, and where there’s dark there’s also light. In order to fit in with society and behave properly, we may repress our shadow side. This happens when a person is excessively nice all the time, but secretly feels angry now and then while hiding their true feelings from the outside world.

Feelings which are suppressed, as in willfully withheld, can become repressed, as in pushed into our subconscious out of sight, even from ourselves. Wild, or scary creatures in dreams, such as lions, tigers, sharks, wolves and snakes, sometimes represent our shadow side, which is desperate to resurface because we haven’t paid it any attention.

If you have nightmares about lions or tigers, according to the teaching of Freud and Jung, you probably need to become better balanced for your own good. If you hide your true feelings a lot, and never let off steam they can surface as nightmares or result in angry outbursts. Dealing with them as they occur can prevent them building up.

Remember that dreams of lions or tigers can be positive, particularly if you associate them with positive traits on your list. If, for example, you dream that a lion sits beside you looking strong and beautiful, perhaps you’ve just done something in your waking life to be proud of, and shown great strength of character and courage.

Likewise, dreaming of a tiger playing, and rolling with you as you laugh and enjoy each others company, could show you’ve successfully integrated your shadow side into your personality, and that the tiger side of you is now capable of standing up for you, and making you brave. This leaves you free to relax and be playful, safe in the knowledge that you are capable of taking care of yourself.

Lions and tigers are special creatures. Tigers particularly, are becoming rare due to mankind’s bad behavior and lack of respect. You are fortunate if you see them in a dream, as they are powerful symbols which can be bought to your aid when you need them, or help you understand deep emotions you may not always want to deal with.
